Anthony Joseph Cortese of San Antonio, Texas, 21 year old beloved son,
brother and friend, unexpectedly entered into his new life in
December, 2000. |
|
He was a bright, enthusiastic, caring person with a wonderful sense of humor.
In his hometown of San Antonio, Tony attended college and worked in a
health food store. He advocated all-natural foods, promoted the use of herbs
for illness and body maintenance and practiced a regimen of body-building
for many years. |
 |
 |
He began playing the drums at age nine and grew into a talented drummer.
He shared his love for music often with a gifted group of musician friends. |
|
He also enjoyed melding his Christian upbringing with studies of Eastern
religious philosophy, most especially Zen, the Tao and the teachings of
Krishnamurti. |
 |
 |
One of Tony's favorite pastimes was communing with nature. Even in his
childhood days, he always enjoyed being out of doors, experiencing the
wildlife. It's easy to imagine him now running with the deer and riding
the wind with the birds in his new life. |
|
Tony is missed immensely by his grandparents, his mother and father, and
his sisters and brothers. Numerous other relatives and friends also mourn
his departure. |
 |
 |
We trust the Lord knows of the deep affection he gave and received.
Tony will always be remembered as an extraordinarily beautiful human being. |
We love you, Tony, and always will.

This unique image was one of Tony's last works. If you look closely,
you can see the symbolism in it.
Although you may not be able to see it clearly, the words at the
top are "Global Village." The village sits atop the Yin and
Yang which are an integral part of our world. According to
ancient Chinese philosophy, the yin and yang represent all the
opposite principles one finds in the universe. Under yang are
the principles of maleness, the sun, creation, heat, light,
Heaven, dominance, and so on, and under yin are the principles
of femaleness, the moon, completion, cold, darkness, material
forms, submission, and so on. Each of these opposites produce
the other. Next is the double helix representing the genetic
physical essence of all of us. Then the musical note, the universal
language that our world dances on. |
